Time for some new tidbits about some of the idols.
Poor Bucky Covington was injured shortly after the New Year. Seems he and his brother went camping in Kentucky and while making breakfast one morning burned his right hand from splattered grease. Although currently wearing a bandage, reports are it is healing and should be okay when he takes the stage next weekend in York. Pa. By the way, Bucky's new single "It's Good To Be Us" is doing very well on the country charts. Way to go Bucky but be careful!
Another country gent in the form of Josh Gracin from Season 2 recently was honored by People Magazine. Seems his newest single "We Weren't Crazy" was one of the "Best Singles" for the week. Josh made it all the way to number 4 his season and is doing great in the country field. Congrats Josh!
Belated wishes go to Mikalah Gordon of Season 4 who turned 20 on January 14th. Since her 11th place finish on her season, Mikalah has been busy making numerous television appearances. She was a correspondent for the Tyra Banks Show and also a co-host on American Idol Extra. Her winning personality I am sure was a real asset. She also joined Kimberley Caldwell, Lindsey Cardinale and Jon Peter Lewis last year for a charity event in St. Joseph, Missouri. She also is involved in the Make-A-Wish foundation. Way to go Mikalah!
Belated birthday wishes also to Lakisha Jones who turned 28 on January 13th. Lakisha has been doing quite well since Season 6 as she is currently playing the soloist in the Broadway musical "The Color Purple". She also stands in for the star Chaka Khan as Sofia on the matinees.
Many of you may not know that she was named as spokeswoman for the clothing line Torrid who make plus sizes. However, Lakisha had her teeth fixed and has lost some weight. She looks great!
She signed with Dave Lombard and will start recording her debut cd sometime in May of this year. Reports are it will be a soulful one. I personally can hardly wait for that cd. Best wishes Lakisha!
Well that's it for this segment of the news. Take care all!
